Taylor Hannah, Administrative Coordinator | Earth and Planetary Science
“I have been with JHU for two years. I am an Administrative Coordinator in the Earth and Planetary Science department. I am interested in joining the Staff Advisory Council because I want to strengthen bonds, advocate for, and support other staff members at JHU.”
Chris Harris, Budget Specialist | Biophysics
“I have been with the Johns Hopkins University for almost 17 years. I was with Purchasing for 10 years, the School of Medicine briefly, and I am currently in the Krieger School of the Arts & Sciences, Biophysics Department. I was the By-Laws Subcommittee Chair, prior Natural Sciences Representative, and am currently the KSAS Staff Council Finance Representative. I believe in our Staff, I have a ton of experience, and I expect to be a fine Staff Advisory Council representative. Since I am still on the KSAS Staff Council; anyone belonging to the KSAS Staff who would like to reach out to me, I will be glad to assist. Please, reach out to me.”
Jasmine Jenkins, Sr. Administrative Coordinator | Vice Deans Admin Staff
“Hello, my name is Jasmine Jenkins. I have been with JHU for nearly two years. In my current role, I am a Sr. Administrative Coordinator in the KSAS Deans Office. I am interested in joining the Staff Advisory Council because I am passionate about advocating for staff and enhancing the overall staff experience at Johns Hopkins University. Having already served as a Central Functions Representative on the KSAS staff council, I’ve gained valuable insight into staff’s diverse needs and challenges across various departments. My strong organizational skills, experience in project management, and ability to collaborate with colleagues from all university levels will allow me to contribute meaningfully to the council’s mission. I am eager to continue advocating for innovative solutions that improve staff satisfaction, streamline processes, and ensure that staff have a voice in shaping policies and initiatives that affect their work lives.”
Kris Mueck, Instructional Technologist | AAP Instructional Resource Center
“I have been with JHU for 5 years. In my current role, I am an Instructional Technologist in the AAP Instructional Resource Center department. I would relish the opportunity to contribute to the vital work that the SAC is doing!

I am interested in joining the Staff Advisory Council because there is progress to be made, but I love Johns Hopkins and couldn’t see myself going anywhere else! While I am so happy to be where I am, I understand that too many staff members feel unseen, unheard, and left wanting. Whenever I have the opportunity to advocate for others, I am eager to do so, and recently, this has led me to chair the retention committee on the KSAS Staff Council and promote improvements for staff within my division. Still, there is much work to be done across the university, and the SAC seems to be the perfect place to contribute!

I know that no matter how much progress is made, more can always be done to ensure everyone is treated equitably! Even before realizing the communities I am a part of, I’ve always been passionate about promoting understanding and fair treatment for all walks of life. Of course, a rising tide lifts all boats, and I would love to contribute however I can to create that rising tide for all JHU Staff!”
Sara Suzuki, Administrative Coordinator | Neuroscience
“I have been with JHU for 0.7 years.

In my current role, I am a Administrative Coordinator in the Neuroscience department. I am interested in joining the Staff Advisory Council because as a new employee at Johns Hopkins University, I am eager to actively contribute to the campus community and provide a voice for young professionals within the institution. Despite being relatively new to JHU, I have had the pleasure of connecting with a vibrant group of young professionals and have already seen firsthand the enthusiasm, creativity, and perspectives they bring to the workplace. I believe these voices are vital, and I am excited about the opportunity to represent their interests on the Staff Advisory Council. I believe my perspective as a young professional offers a fresh lens through which we can address challenges and identify opportunities for improvement. My goal is to bring innovative ideas, solutions for fostering inclusivity, and advocate for initiatives that can further enhance the work-life balance, career development, and engagement of young staff members at the university.

One example of a program I successfully managed and implemented was a Young Professionals Roundtable, where we brought together over 100 emerging professionals to engage in small group discussions with senior leaders from the industry. The event provided a unique opportunity for the younger generation to gain valuable insights and guidance from seasoned professionals. Through these intimate discussions, participants received advice on key steps to success, career development, and leadership. The program was viewed as a resounding success by our board leadership, as it fostered meaningful exchanges of wisdom and experience, creating a bridge between the current and future leaders in the industry.

Sheryl Sandberg, the former COO of Facebook once said, “Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge. Young professionals have the energy, perspective, and drive to lead — and their voices are crucial to shaping the future of our organizations and our world.” I agree and believe that by actively listening to and empowering young professionals, we ensure a future built on fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, and the collaborative spirit needed to drive meaningful change.

Thank you for considering me for this opportunity and taking the time to review my application—I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the continued growth and success of the organization.”
Matthew Tachoute, Research Technologist | Biology
“I have been with JHU for over a year. In my current role, I am a Research Technologist in the Biology department. I am interested in joining the Staff Advisory Council because I would like to represent the individuals similar to my role at JHU. Additionally, there will be a mutual benefit. I will grow as a leader and take on more responsible. Also, my perspective with my role and demographic will be valuable to the board.”
